Formalwear: Types of Suits

There are many different types of jackets, vests and trousers your groom can wear to the wedding.  Below you will find a list to help you find the right one:

1 BUTTON  - a single button closure at the centre front of the suit/tuxedo jacket

2 BUTTON - a suit/tuxedo jacket with a two button closure

3 BUTTON - a suit/tuxedo  jacket with a three button closure

4 BUTTON - a suit/tuxedo jacket with a four button closure

6 BUTTON (Double-Breasted) - a coat having one half of the front lapped over the other and having a double row of buttons and a single row of button holes

CUTAWAY - a long coat with skirts tapering from the waistline to form tails at the back

DINNER - a suit jacket

SUIT - a man's suit conists of a jacket and trousers and made with the same fabric

TAILCOAT - a full dress coat with two long tapering skirts at the back

WAISTCOAT - a sleeveless, fitted garment that buttons at the centre front with the hem normally hitting the waistline

LOWRISE - a trouser with a waistline resting below the natural waistline

PLEATED - a fold (s) on either side of the front zipper that adds fullness to the front of the trouser

STOVEPIPE/BAGGY - a pant that leg that has added fullness

BACKLESS - this vest is adjustable at the waist and neck and only covers the front of the shirt.  It should be worn slightly below the waistline.

FULLBACK - this vest has a full bodice in both the front and back and is usually adjustable at the back waist
