Ideas: A Summer Beach Wedding

Invitations

A scrolled invitation tied with white or blue ribbon, unfolded to a beach scene as a border with invitation wording in the middle.

On white card stock invitations, have an embossed seashell or a watercolour painting of seashells, sea gulls or seahorses.

A tri-fold pocket invitation in the colours of blue, green and white with wave curls as a pattern.  A seashell button with raffia tied around the button to keep it closed.

Colours

Blue, green, yellow and white.  All colours associated with the beach.

Flowers

Roses, Delphiniums, Gerbera Daisies and Baby’s Breath or various dune grasses.

Décor

A white marquee with navy canopy and fairy lights peeping through holes in canopy to give the effect of being under the night sky.  White cotton tablecloths and slatted white bistro chairs.  Have plain green or blue china with silver flatware and plain, clear glass stemware.

Square clear vases with submerged flowers and floating seashell shaped candles or fishbowls filled with sand. Place coral and sea urchins in the sand and fill with water or have colourful fake fish floating in the bowl for a fun touch.

A real beachy centerpiece is a short cylindrical glass vase and a clear glass votive holder in middle, surrounded by seashells between the two glasses and a blue or green votive candle.

An elegant flare would be a tall, clear glass cylindrical vase filled with white Roses, blue Delphiniums, yellow Gerbera Daisies and white Baby’s Breath or green dune grasses for a more beachy look.

Cocktails

The Queenstown Margarita, Mango Mania or The August Sunset cocktail would give the reception a start.  Serve the Havana Punch or The Beachcomber, a N/A (non-alcoholic) Punch with Raspberry/Cranberry Cocktail, orange juice, gingerale and floating raspberries.

Hor D’Ouerves

Have Hor D’Ouerves on a table so guests can pick and choose, serve with paper napkins decorated with sea horses or coral reef pattern and plain white plates.

Grilled Shrimp Cocktail, Honey Garlic Salmon Satays, Broccoli and Wasabi Dip with various crackers or tortilla chips and different toppings e.g. shrimp or vegetables and Grilled Vegetables all with individual skewers for easy pick up.

                       OR

Magically Moist Lemon Grilled Salmon accompanied with Rice and Buttered Asparagus

Dessert

Favours

Plastic shovels and buckets for the Kiddies, 4 different shaped Chocolate seashells in little white boxes with sea horses stenciled on the outside, blue or green ribbon tied with personalized message or Seashell candle sets.

Other Nice Touches

As the couple dances their first dance, have all the children make a circle on the edge of the dance floor and wave blue, green and white ribbon wand banners or release floating candles on the water of a pond or pool.
