Ideas: A Christmas Wedding

Invitations

Cream scrolled invitations with gold calligraphy and silhouette of angels as a border in gold or burgundy.  Gold card stock with burgundy calligraphy or a photo of gold, glass ball ornaments in candlelight with a vellum overlay in cream and burgundy calligraphy for invitation wording.

Colours

Have rich Christmas colours such as Burgundy, Gold and Cream.

Flowers

Creamy/White Hydrangeas, Burgundy Dahlias, Creamy/White Tulips, Cedar or Evergreen branches, Eucalyptus, Dark Green Ivy, Burgundy Roses, and Gold painted Corkscrew Willow or Hazel branches.

Décor

Burgundy linen tablecloths, cream chair covers and cream linen napkins rolled and tied with gold stretch string with cedar tip tucked into the bow. Add a touch of class with cream china with gold rims, clear stemware with gold rims and gold plated flatware.   Centerpieces could be gold pedestal dishes with cream pillar candles and burgundy glass ball ornaments surrounding the candles.  Yuletide wreaths made of evergreens, ivy, mistletoe and eucalyptus, spray painted gold artificial roses, wheat and linseed heads with gold bows.  On head table have a table swag matching Yuletide wreaths but replace with burgundy bows.

Decorate with swags above doorways, which match the table swags and if mantles are available, place swags on mantles with cream votive candles in gold, glass holders to add ambiance. In tall fluted vases have sprays of creamy/white Hydrangeas, burgundy Dahlias, Cedar or Evergreen branches.  Or burgundy roses and creamy/white tulips, dark green Ivy and gold painted Hazel or Corkscrew Willow branches.  Add a burgundy rose bud to the cedar tip inserted in the napkin bow.  Place burgundy coloured angel shaped name cards with gold calligraphy on the plates.

Cocktails

Serve cocktails such as Cranberry Gin Fizz, Mistletoe Martini, Under The Mistletoe, Colourful Clementine and Darjeeling Egg Free-Eggnog.  Have non-alcoholic punch on hand such as the Festive Cranberry Punch or Holiday Punch.  Serve mocktails for the kids with names such as the Caroling Cup, Mistletoe Splash and The Snow Slipper.

Hors D’Oeurves

Have waiters serve Hors D’Oeurves on platters with tasty treats such as Cranberry Chicken Cups, Cranberry Glazed Cocktail Meatballs, Fig and Blue Cheese Crostini and Mozzarella Bites.

Menu:  Have a sit down meal with waiters serving guests.

Soup and Salads – Start with a choice of soup or salad such as Pear, Port and Potato Soup with Stilton or Spicy Potato Soup.  Serve festive salads such as Persimmon Salad or Spice Orange and Cranberry Salad.

Main Course – Serve traditional Orange Glazed Holiday Ham or Quail Wrapped in Prosciutto with Pan Roasted Potatoes and Glazed Carrots and Parsnips with Chives.

For those guests who are vegetarians have delicious Cheese Tortellini with Mushrooms and Prosciutto or Tagliatelle with Blue Cheese.

Desserts – Festive desserts will add the finishing touches such as Apple Cranberry Crisp, Plum and Shortbread Swirls, Apple and Pear Mincemeat Pie or Black Forest Cake.

Finish off with Italian Roast Coffee, Hot Ginger Tea with Rum or Cranberry Cider to keep the guests warm.

Favours

Have Glazed Angel shaped cookies in burgundy boxes tied with a gold bow and a personalized note on a cream card with burgundy calligraphy.  Or, gold glass ornaments with a cream painted angel or gold cylindrical tins filled with peppermint or humbug candies, topped with a burgundy bow.  For the kids have small snow globe Christmas tree ornaments with an angel inside.

Other Nice Touches

Hang a Mistletoe Ring from the ceiling in the center of the dance floor.  Instead of confetti or rice throw fake snow at the Bride and Groom when they have their first dance or leave for their honeymoon.
