Australia,
the sixth largest country in the world, boasts more than 7,000 beaches
and offers some of the most unbelievable scenery in the world. From camel treks to climbing Sidney’s Harbour Bridge, Australia offers visitors a diverse and cultural travel experience.
Climate:
Australia is the driest continent in the world making it a fabulous year-round destination. Temperatures range from 13 Celsius in the Australian winter to 45 Celsius in the summer months. In
general, the best time to visit the south is during the Australian
summer, from December to March, though long summer holidays from
Christmas through January mean that prices are higher and beaches more
crowded at this time. In the tropical north the best months are from
May to October, while in the Centre they are from October to November
and from March to May. If you want to tour extensively, keep to the
southern boasts in summer and head north for the winter.
Language:
English
Currency:
Australia's
currency is the Australian dollar, or "buck", which is divided into 100
cents. While exchange rates may fluctuate, in general, A$2 for US$1 and
A$1.20 for CDN$1. Travellers’ cheques in either USD or A are the best way to travel.
Where to Go:
There is an abundance of things to see and do while in Australia but of course the two greatest experiences are the beaches and exploring the Outback. Two big natural attractions include the Great Barrier Reef along the coast of Queensland and Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the Norther Territory’s Red Centre.
Of course, there are the beautiful cities like Sidney boasting the
famous Opera House and Habour Bridge, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaine,
Perth, Hobart and Canberra to name a few. Beyond the city limits lies the great Australian Outback where you will find diverse wildlife and amazing scenery.
